NOTE: THE ICV APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR TWO (2) WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE LISTED ABOVE. THIS IS TO INSURE THE HOST CAMPUS RECEIVES THE APPLICATION BY THE DEADLINE.

  • Students should schedule an appointment with their major academic advisor to discuss course options at the Host campus. Most campuses provide online access to their schedule of classes. All campuses, with exception to UCSD and UCSC, are currently only admitting students who are requesting courses not offered at UCSB. Students will want to keep this information in mind when completing the application.
  • Seniors need to schedule an appointment with their College advisor regarding academic residence requirements.
  • A letter of endorsement from the major advisor indicating the academic worth of the proposed courses is required. A one page statement of purpose addressed to the Host campus is also required. Both letters must be submitted with the ICV application.
  • Financial aid recipients will need to obtain the signature of The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships on the ICV application. The Host campus will manage the student’s financial aid while attending the ICV program; therefore, recipients must list the Host campus's school code on the FAFSA. Changes can be made to the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
  • Submit the application via DocuSign and drop off or mail a check to the UCSB BARC Office for the non-refundable application fee. Make check or money order payable to UC Regents.

Additional Information

  • The Host campus will notify students whether or not they are approved to attend. If approved, students must reply directly to the Host campus of their intent to attend. Students must also notify UCSB's ICV Program Coordinator in order for the application process to be finalized.
  • It is the student's responsibility to check prerequisite requirements for all proposed courses. Questions regarding prerequisites or other course restrictions should be addressed to the course department at the Host campus.
  • Students are responsible for adhering to all enrollment requirements and academic policies of the Host campus.

Former UCSB Students

Former students who are not currently enrolled at UCSB will be required to readmit in order to apply for the ICV Program.

  • Contact your College to determine if you are eligible for readmission.
  • If eligible, refer to the Readmission/Reinstatement web page for application deadlines and other important information. Complete the Readmission/Reinstatement application and submit, along with the non-refundable application fee, to the Office of the Registrar prior to the appropriate deadline date and simultaneously with the ICV application.
