Degree-seeking students
Students admitted to a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program at UCSB
Undergraduate students
Complete all “Steps to Enrollment” in your Applicant Portal, including:
- Activate your UCSB NetID and update your lived name
- Set up your University email (Umail) account
- All official UCSB communication will be sent to your Umail account. Check it frequently.
- Submit your Statement of Legal Residency (SLR)
- Attend Orientation
- Orientation is not mandatory, but it gives you an important head start in preparing for your college career.
- Bookmark the UCSB General Catalog
- The General Catalog contains important policies, degree requirements, and course descriptions.
- Complete the quarterly enrollment process
- Register for courses, pay fees, and clear all blocks
- Complete Student Health requirements
- Including immunization requirements and health insurance requirements.
Graduate students
Please visit the Graduate Division for new student information.
Summer Sessions only students
Students who are attending UCSB only for the summer quarter, including high school students, visiting college students, and community members.
- Apply for Summer Sessions
- Apply for summer housing (if applicable)
- Apply for financial aid, including Veterans Benefits (if applicable)

- Apply to be an Intercampus Visitor
- Apply through your home campus.
