Path to Graduation
Undergraduate Students: Download The Path to Graduation: Undergraduate Graduation Checklist (overview of steps needed to receive your undergraduate degree from UCSB)
Undergraduate (bachelor's) degrees are only awarded after a student has
- officially notified the university of the quarter in which they plan to complete all degree requirements (declared candidacy through GOLD), and
- completed all degree requirements, as listed in the General Catalog.
While Commencement happens only once per year, students may declare candidacy in GOLD for any of the four quarters (fall, winter, spring, or summer). Declaring candidacy for a particular quarter means that the student intends to complete all coursework for their degree requirements on or before the last day of that quarter. Please note that if you intend to enroll in summer courses to complete your degree, you will need to declare your candidacy for the summer quarter. This does not preclude you from participating in the spring commencement ceremonies.
